Islay Geese

One of Islay's annual returning wildlife spectacle is the arrival of the geese from arctic regions. The almost 50,000 geese arrive in October and stay on Islay until April. The geese ususally arrive at Loch Gruinart and later on spread over the island where they feed on the grass lands. The various species of geese on Islay are the Pale bellied Brent Geese, Barnacle Geese, Greenland Whitefront and Greylag Geese.
